Welcome to my second mini review! this week I will be reviewing the newly released episode of Resident Evil Revelations 2, Episode 2 "Contemplation" I hope you enjoy!
Story
Episode 2 picks up with Claire & Moira meeting up with a couple of their Terra Save co-workers in a creepy seaside village, they are eventually separated with Claire & Moira starting the search for the source of the broadcast coming through their bracelets. Meanwhile Barry gets Natalia to take him to where she first met Moira on the island and along the way encounter a few new deadly enemies including one that is obsessed with Natalia.
Gameplay
Plays pretty much like episode 1 though there is more stealth sections as well as two little gameplay tweaks both of which are aimed at pushing Co-Op, one involves Claire, Moira, & a timed door puzzle, the other one involves Barry & Natalia and comes about mostly due to one of the newly introduced enemies which can either be fun or frustrating in co-op. Also the replayability from Episode 1 returns with more in game collectables. Raid mode also gets some new additions in the form of a few new stages (found in the 2 new sets of Gauntlets) and 3 new playable characters including fan fave Leon S. Kennedy.
Graphics
Pretty much like episode 1 though there was a brief moment where a graphical issue did pop up on the PS3, but it was brief and hasn't (so far) happened again.
Sound
Pretty solid overall
Scare Factor
Episode 2's scare factor is pretty low in terms of actual scares, but this episode does have a lot in the way of tense moments and creepy atmosphere spread out across both scenarios.
Pros - A better overall story than episode 1, enemies introduced in Raid mode start making their appearance in the story, introduction to 3 new monstrosities (1 new regular enemy & 2 boss enemies).
Cons - the occasional graphical glitch pop up, some may be annoyed by one of the newly introduced creatures as it has a one hit instant kill move and causes the screen to distort progressively as it gets closer to the player.
Overall Resident Evil Revelations 2 - Episode 2: Contemplation is a nice improvement over episode 1, especially in the story department which is why I give Episode 2: Contemplation a 8.5 out of 10. If you played and liked Episode 1 you will more than likely have a blast with Episode 2, also if you are a long time RE fan like myself you will enjoy the loose tie ins to RE 2, 4, Revelations & the RE 5 story DLC Lost in Nightmares that are scattered throughout the episode.
