Welcome to the official Week 13 MFL Recap thread this week in the MFL saw the playoff picture get a little bit clearer as Free Josh Gordon solidified his hold on the #1 seed with a win over Girl Graves, Danny pulls off an upset over Dr. Dark leaving the door to the playoffs open for Duncan to sneak in, and Mark couldn't pull off a Monday night comeback against MadMan Gamers to put an end to his record setting losing streak. Also this week 4 games were decided by 20 pts or more while the other 2 games this week were decided by 15 pts or less.
Of Hogs and Hokies (Danny Trioxin) vs. Dark's Dragons
Even though they scored just the 10th-highest point total in the league this week, Of Hogs and Hokies (5-8, 1,106.08 points) managed to get past Dark's Dragons 79.30 to 67.06. Of Hogs and Hokies proved to be the superior team even on an off day, winning even though they got just 93.2% of their 85.08-points-per-matchup season average. This was a painful one for Dark's Dragons (7-6, 1,131.56 points) to take as, in addition to losing, they also finished dead last in the league in points for this week. Matthew Stafford was the leading scorer for Of Hogs and Hokies this week with 25.60 points.
Rock Terror (CA Bain) vs. The Fighting Kittens (Smoke/SmokeTNT)
Like a Mike Tyson face tattoo, Rock Terror's record against The Fighting Kittens sticks out. They beat them 119.58 to 85.30 for a second win in as many head-to-head matchups. This week, Mark Sanchez was the team leader, getting 23.48 points. It was even higher than the 18.50 points Randall Cobb got the last time these teams played. This is the biggest win for Rock Terror in two head-to-head matchups. They defeated The Fighting Kittens 85.36 to 80.94 in Week 2.
Free Adrian Peterson (Jerry) vs. The Taint(Brett)
This matchup resembled a playground seesaw, going back and forth, with Free Adrian Peterson (8-5, 1,353.28 points) ultimately coming out on top over The Taint (6-7, 1,237.50 points) 105.94 to 82.44. The Taint scored first and went into Sunday in front 8.00 to 0. That advantage disappeared by the end of the early Sunday games and they trailed by 32.50. After the late Sunday games, the lead changed again, and they went ahead 82.44 to 78.64. Thanks to 7.30 points from Emmanuel Sanders, Sunday night ended with Free Adrian Peterson on top. Free Adrian Peterson assures themselves a playoff spot with the win.
Free Josh Gordon (Dusty) vs. Grave Robbers (Girl Graves)
Free Josh Gordon stays unbeaten in two matchups against Grave Robbers with a 137.38 to 100.80 win. This week, Drew Brees was the difference, picking up 40.28 points. That's quite an upgrade over Darren Sproles, who led all players with 23.80 points the last time these teams met. This is the biggest win for Free Josh Gordon in two head-to-head matchups. They beat Grave Robbers 92.08 to 89.38 in Week 2. The trials and tribulations of the regular season have culminated in playoff berths for both squads this week.
Go Blue Girl (Joanna) vs. The Bastaaaards (Duncan)
Go Blue Girl clinches a spot in the playoffs after taking down The Bastaaards again, this time by a final score of 123.22 to 90.90. Aaron Rodgers put up 28.92 points and was putting on a show. It was less than his 34.64 points in the last matchup with The Bastaaards. We could write something blasting The Bastaaards for starting two players (Garrett Graham and Brandon McManus) who scored zero points. However, since they didn't bother changing the lineup, they probably won't read this anyway. This is the largest margin of victory for Go Blue Girl in two head-to-head matchups. They beat The Bastaaards 105.14 to 84.84 in Week 2.
MadMan Gamers (tav7623/madmangamer) vs. Backfield Penetration (Monster Mark)
MadMan Gamers won't need to worry about a Buffalo Bills-like playoff drought, as they locked in a spot after a win over BackfieldPenetration 83.54 to 74.22. They remain undefeated against them in two matchups. MadMan Gamers wins small against BackfieldPenetration, with an 83.69-point average score in the series that's just 80.1% of their average on the season. This week, Matt Ryan was the determining factor, getting 25.84 points. It was almost the same as the 26.90 points Jordy Nelson got the last time these teams played. To make matters worse, as BackfieldPenetration had a starter score zero points (Julius Thomas). This is the closest win for MadMan Gamers in two head-to-head matchups. They beat BackfieldPenetration 83.84 to 53.40 in Week 2.

EDIT/UPDATE:
There has been a late season change in the Playoff format as the Championship bracket has been expanded to include the top 8 teams in the league instead of just the top 4 teams, the Consolation bracket has essentially been eliminated (meaning there will be no games played in the Consolation bracket) and the playoff period has been expanded by a week.
Playoff Format - Quarter Finals Week 15, Semifinals Week 16, Finals Week 17
#1 seed will play #8 seed
#2 seed will play #7 seed
#3 seed will play #6 seed
#4 seed will play #5 seed
Free Josh Gordon - Win clinches #1 seed
Go Blue Girl - Win over MadMan Gamers essentially clinches #2 seed, loss essentially clinches #4 seed
MadMan Gamers - Win over Go Blue Girl essentially clinches #2 seed, loss essentially clinches #4 seed
Free Adrian Peterson - Win over Grave Robbers essentially clinches #3 seed, loss essentially clinches #5 seed
Grave Robbers - Win over Free Adrian Peterson essentially clinches #3 seed, loss essentially clinches #5 seed
Rock Terror - Win clinches playoff spot & potentially #6 seed
Dark's Dragons - A win or losses by either The Taint & The Bastaaards clinches a playoff spot, a win plus Rock Terror loss clinches #6 seed. Dark's season can come to an end with a loss plus wins by both The Bastaaards & The Taint.
The Taint - Win plus a loss by either Dark's Dragons or The Bastaaards clinches playoff spot, a loss plus a win by The Bastaaards ends their season
The Bastaards - Win plus a loss by either The Taint or Dark's Dragons clinches playoff spot (Duncan currently holds a 70 pt Tie Breaker over Dark), loss plus win by The Taint pretty much ends their season.
* - If both The Bastaards & The Taint end up tied (both teams won or lost their final games) and Dark's Dragons wins their game then the final playoff spot will be determined by pts total - The Taint currently holds a 35 pt Tie Breaker over The Bastaaards and would be awarded the final playoff spot if The Bastaaards can't make up the difference. However if both teams win & Dark's Dragons loses then both teams would make the playoffs and Dark's Dragons season would end
The Fighting Kittens - A loss or a win by either The Taint or The Bastaaards pretty much puts an end to their season.
Of Hogs and Hokies - A loss or a win by either The Taint or The Bastaaards pretty much puts an end to their season.
Backfield Penetration - already eliminated from playoffs, a win over Rock Terror can help Dark's chances to clinch the #6 seed as well ensure they don't break the league record for most losses in a season (12 - set by the 2013 Carolina Pirates, which is now known as MadMan Gamers).
