Episode 8 of Harper's Island picks up where the last episode left off (Day 6) with the disappearance of creepy girl Madison (the bride's niece) and the party guests beginning to search for her before their boat ride home leaves the island. Meanwhile the sheriff goes looking for Cole Harkin after speaking to the recently captured JD (brother of the groom) and in the process springs a trap, while he's out looking for Harkin someone attacks the police station leaving bad boy Shane & JD trapped.
Pros: the usual (decent acting, good editing, good cinematography), less drama & more attempts at horror/suspense, some decent blood/special effects, and a little more in the way of action.
Cons: What drama this episode has is kinda bad (I felt it was poorly written/jarring and made a few characters a lot less likeable) and there was a poorly done attempt at a jump scare that left me shaking my head.
Overall I give this episode a 5.5 out of 10 as I felt it was an improvement over the last episode (other than the bit of drama in the middle) mainly because it starts to go back to the things that made me like the first couple of episodes (murder mystery yay! also ties the highest body count for an episode up to this point which was set by episode 2) and begins to go away from the stuff I wasn't particularly fond of (drama that seemed like it was ripped from a TV soap opera), hopefully the next episode will continue in that direct.
