After much hype, and a trip to Blockbuster, I finally got to see Pontypool. I've had it saved on Netflix forever and finally realized it was a Blockbuster exclusive, which pissed me off, but that's a different rant. Pontypool is about a morning DJ in a small town and his 2 producers who start getting strange calls about mobs acting crazy around town. They try to piece together what's happening while trying to keep their listeners informed at the same time. I don't want to give away what's behind the goings on, but its a fresh take on a classic genre. The film almost entirely takes place in one location, the radio station, and I think it works well here. There are 3 main characters, led by the DJ, played by Stephen McHattie who is great in this role and really makes the whole movie work. There are some things that don't quite make sense and the movie starts to fall apart at the end, but I would definitely recommend anyone check it out for the original concept and McHattie's performance. 3/5

I recently checked this out on Netflix (it finally showed up on there now that Blockbuster is dead) and I gotta say that your review is pretty much spot on.

'Blockbuster Exclusive', that's certainly a term that's dead and buried, lol. Now that some time has passed and after a couple of rewatches, I'd probably bump that up to a 4/5. Think the film has really held up and is still quite unique, especially in a world full of remakes, reboots, and rehashes.
