Hey everyone tav here with my DVD review of the 2007 direct to DVD sequel Wrong Turn 2. Though as a heads up this will not be much of a review because I will not be posting my review of the movie but rather a review of the DVD special features ( complete with a new format....which will probably be awkwardly done.....in which case I'm sorry......I won't do it again....). The reason for this is because I have already sent in a recorded audio review that will hopefully (crossing my fingers) make it onto the next episode (if it doesn't no big deal I'm still going to eventually write/ tac on a post with the review in it ), now onto the review.
The Wrong Turn 2 DVD has a modest mixture of special features, there are two audio commentaries ( One with the director Joe Lynch and actors Henry Rollins and Erica Leehrsen, the other features the writers), three short featurettes (6- 12 minutes long), a trailer for the movie and three hidden Easter Eggs ( none of which are that good ....two short extended shots and a preview for Skin walkers).
Out of the two audio commentaries the best one to listen to is the one with Lynch, Rollins, and Leerhsen which is energetic and somewhat interesting despite everyone waxing each others car or cart...( a little inside joke to those who listen to the commentary;p)...though for those interested head over to Dread Central and you can download a Dread Central exclusive solo commentary by Joe Lynch ( which in my opinion is a better/ more informative commentary than the one found on the disc and it's a crime that it wasn't included on the disc like originally planned). The three featurettes on the disc involve the making of the movie ( not really.......they basically jump from cast member to cast member to ask them what are they afraid of and is standard studio fluff), the creation of the special effects ( the best and longest featurette on the disc and covers mostly the creation of the movies opening death.....also a lot of waxing the effects guys and stunt guys car/cart), and the shooting of the "stump hump" scene which is also the shortest of the featurettes at approx 5-6 minutes long.
I give the DVD a 6 out of 10 for not having a whole lot of special features, but what is there gives you enough behind the scenes/ making of info with out repeating it.....too much.... to keep the average horror fan satisfied. As for the video and audio it is presented in anamorphic wide-screen with a English and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 audio mixes and as far as I could tell both look/sound good. I definitely recommend you check it out (rent it don't buy it unless you really love/enjoy the movie).
Well I hope you enjoyed my review and as for next weeks review I will probably be reviewing a horror/slasher/comedy that is currently not available over netflix instant queue, though that will change if I can get my hands on the dvd for a Indy horror film I've heard about and been wanting to see.
