Well there was so much hype about this movie and how good it was it just had to be held in certain areas till its wide release. I went to see this movie a few weeks ago. By most people before I went to see this....they said it sucked ASS. Well I really didn't listen but I went to see it for my self.
The movie is shot in a wandering camera perspective/fixed angle. Now the movie is about some spirit haunting this couple and the husband decides to get a camera to document what happens in the bedroom at night. Small things happen such as small door movements and banging noises but things to do get out of hand in the later weeks as the husband tries to commnuicate with it. Now this is the kinda of movie that gets scary from making the movie look like it was actually filmed on a shitty(professional though) camera. To give it that home movie kinda look. I didn't work in my opinion but it did give it a very nice touch to it. The whole movie is made to build anticipation for one hell of scary part and that happens at the end. What happens I will not say but it was your BOOM OUT OF NOWHERE type of scare rather than something amusing XD. I would give this movie a 5/10. For a movie that was made in 1 week on a budget of 15,000 , it was good! But still all the greatness really was from the hype it managed to set up in the advertisments.

I'd give it a 7 or 8, personally. I seemed to like it more than most people.

I give the movie a 7 I heard of all the hype for the movie but i refused to see it in theaters, so i waited till it came out on DVD and rented it. I don't understand why sooo many people said it was the scariest movie they ever saw. It had a few of those jump scenes the best scene to me was when Katie got pulled from the bed and dragged out of the room. The Alternate endings were not that great the whole *spoilers* Her face becoming a demon and eating micah i thought could definately been left out, and the other endings seemed more fitting. 1 Where katie killed micah and then she came up and slit her throat. 2 the more fitting ending is katie killed micah and a few hours pass and the police come to the house and check everything out, Katie in just sheer cofusion head towards the cops with a knife in her hand and she is then gunned down.

I'd give the movie a 8 for the movie theater experience (I saw it with a big rowdy/fun crowd and it was awesome!!.....best time I had a movie theater since going to see My Bloody Valentine 3D in a packed theater) and a 6 for the home theater experience because it wasn't as awesome as experiencing it with a bunch of people in the dark yelling shit at the screen like "Don't Go Down up in the attic.....dumb ass" or "Oh shit you've gone and done it now..... jackass"......also at least you can see what is going on in this movie ....most of the time......unlike The Blair Witch Project where you couldn't see shit because of that damn shaky cam... Zimmerman dude welcome to the forums and sorry that you missed out on seeing this movie in theaters because this is definitely one of those movies that is better to see in a packed theater than at home....as for the ending that was in the theatrical cut I totally agree that the police ending was the best one and you have Stephen Spielberg and Paramount to thank for the ending in the theatrical version.
