A yo-yo and hello from here, deep in the heart of the Chicken Fried Nation. Well, it’s Labor Day weekend so say good bye to the summer of 2010. And it’s been one run amuck summer if ever there was one. This one is going down in the books fo’sho. Anyway, before I trip along memory lane, let’s get to this week’s shit shall we? So this week I got a nice little list of five horror movies that are based on true events. Now like last time, these are in no particular order, and rather than rank these things, I’ll just give you my ratings (1-5) and tell ya a bit about each film. Can you dig it? Cool. Let’s get to the movies.
FIVE BASED ON TRUE EVENTS HORROR MOVIES
OPEN WATER (2004) I’m kickin’ off this list with one of my all time faves. Fuck ‘Piranha,’ fuck ‘Jaws’ this movie is scary shit! This movie really tweeked me out the first time I saw it. This movie is based on the story of Tom and Eileen Lonergan a couple who in 1998 vanished after a diving company accidentally left them behind in the middle of the ocean. YIKES! Anyway, a search was conducted but their bodies were never found. (Cue the dramatic-spooky music) This bad boy I give a solid 4.5. Great film!!
THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE (2005) Another of my faves. This movie scared me, I ain’t gonna lie. Demon possession blows my mind. Plus the way she all contorted out and shit, freaky deaky! This movie is based on a German girl by the name of Anneliese Michel, who, in 1968 started showing signs of demon possession. Finally in 1975, two priests did some exorcisms and by 1976 Anneliese was dead and her parents and the two priests were charged with manslaughter. That’s scary in and of itself. They were just trying to help. I give this film a 4 on the Wigwam scale. Oh shit...I smell sulfur.
HENRY :PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER (1986) I watched this at a friend’s h a while back on IFC and I really enjoyed it. It’s based on the serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. The dude confessed to like 600 murders but most were never proven He did however get charged and convicted for 11, which, is no small body count. He spent the rest of his life in prison. This is a good film, not the best, but still worth a view. How about a 3 for Henry Lee.
THE HILLS HAVE EYES (1977) This film is allegedly based on the legend of some dude named Alexander “Sawney” Bean. He was a Scottsman in the 15-16th century who was head of like a 40 member clan that lived in caves and ate1000 people. Now some historians say that he never existed, but I included this film ‘cause it’s a fuckin’ cool legend. So maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not but in any case I give ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ a 3.5. Michael Barrymore is da man y’all!
PRIMEVAL (2007) Hell to the yeah y’all! What’s not to dig about a 20 ft. croc that is rumored to live in Africa. Supposedly, this croc, Gustave, is said to have killed 300 people and is believed to be 70 something years old and still lives in the Ruzizi River in Burundi. This movie was fun to watch, it’s a pretty good creature feature. I don’t know, I dig that kinda shit. Loch Ness Monster, huge crocs in the sewer, ya know. Crypto zoology.(Did I spell that right?) Anyway, Gustave the giant croc gets a 3.
Ok, that’s it for this week y’all. I’ll be back next week with another list of something or other. So until then, have a safe holiday weekend, take care, stay a-scared and I am out.

awesome list man keep em coming, as for the movies on your list I've only managed to see three of them ( the two I haven't seen are Open Water and Exorcism of Emily Rose and it's because I've heard bad things from my friends about Open Water when it came out in theaters and The Exorcism of Emily Rose because for some reason exorcism movies put me to sleep....and I don't know why.......anyway I had to watch The Exorcist in 30 minute intervals because every time I tried watching it I would always fall asleep 35 minutes in and wake up at the end credits.......and speaking of The Exorcist have you read the book?.. I thought it was pretty good.....oh and did you know The Exorcist is supposedly based on a real life exorcism that was performed in the 1960's near Baltimore on this boy who was supposedly possessed by the devil) and I am also surprised that you didn't include in your list The Amityville Horror (that is unless you are one of the people who believe that it is a hoax then I can see why it wasn't included), The Haunting in Connecticut, Wolf Creek (supposedly based on the true story of Australia's outback serial killer Mick Taylor) , or the barrage of movies based on real life killers Ed Gein (who is one of the real life inspirations for Leatherface and Hannibal Lector ), Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, BTK, Zodiac Killer,or David Berkowitz (Son of Sam Killer.....if you haven't seen it check out Summer of Sam).

I have read 'The Exorcist' and I actually have to say that I liked the movie better. ANd yes, the first hour is total snooze a pa looza. By the way, I heard on this radio show that I sometimes listen to a clip of a "real life exorcism." Now idk if it was true shit, but man, it was freaky deaky!! It was all in Russian so that added some more freaky to it. As far as Amityville, I'm kinda on the fence on that one. I've heard some shit about here and there and it was enough to give me a bit of reasonable doubt. 'Summer of Sam' was bad-ass. Not a huge Spike Lee fan, but that movie was good. I may need to watch that again. Been a while. As far as "Open Water," yeah, it did get banged on, but I really liked it. It's kinda shot homemade style, but the end, (maybe the last 20mins or so) are for real trippy. I guess because it could really happen(or has happened) But yeah, you should try and peep it out. Grab some beer if you get bored with it. The sequel was good too. Not what I expected, but worth a watch. Back to serial killers, did you ever see the movie, "The Alphabet Killer?"

I'm not much of a Spike Lee fan either, the only movies of his that I liked were Summer of Sam and Inside Man, as for Open Water I'll definitely give it a peep when it shows up on either instant watch or is aired on TV. I've heard about The Alphabet Killer, it stars Wrong Turn/Dollhouse actress Eliza Dushku and I know that it's on Netflix Instant Watch, but I haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet.

Well sir, I hate to open with this but...GO BIG BLUE!! It was a close game for a while, and I was on the edge of my seat there for a while. Carolina kept it close for a while. Thank god D.Williams didn't really go off. WHEW!! And get this, I played R.Williams instead of Forte, (STUPID WIGWAM!!) and Grant got hurt. But, just like my Giants, I played through the mistakes and got a W in Week 1. My Arizona DEF got me like 16pts, WOW! Anyway, you still have like 3 guys tonight right, y'all are playing a close game. Can't wait to see that Jets/Ravens game. And that Dallas game last night was weird!! Glad the 'Skins won. (I hate both teams, but hate Dallas more) But all in all it was a great opening day, glad to have some football. Anyway, good luck tonight in fantasy, and I'll talk at you later.

BOOO.......HISSSS.......It was a close game until the 2nd half when the offense couldn't score a point to save their lives ( I'm already wishing they would boot Moore, hire a better O line, fire the idiot making the play calls, and put Clausen in as the starting QB) and ended up relying too heavily on their young Defense .........I'm kinda pissed that DeAngelo didn't bust loose in the second half (the first half he did fine) especially since I have him on my fantasy team though on the upside he did do better overall than Reggie Bush......yeah I did a stupid thing too, playing Dez Bryant instead of Nate Robinson (Dez got 5 points but Nate got 14) and it looks like it's going to cost me a W this week unless my three remaining players (Todd Heap, Baltimore D, and K Nate Kaeding)end up doing a lot better than their projected stats and my opponents remaining player (Shonn Greene) does crappier than his projected stat ( I don't see that happening unless the Baltimore D can shut down the Jets entire run game). Also congrats on your win over Webula and for being the first team to win a game in the league, yeah it was a close game and I'm happy that the Redskins won as well because I have a friend who is a big Cowboys fan and is such a hardcore fan that he makes Eagles/Raiders fans look tame in comparison so now I get to torment him some more this year ( he's also a Tarheels basketball fan, an Atlanta Braves fan (I'm hoping they blow another playoff run so that I can tease him about that too)......and he pulled for the Colts to win this years Super Bowl because he really really hates Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints) and FYI I torment him because he torments me... Thanks I'm going to need all the luck I can get tonight in the Jets/Ravens game (I'm not worried about the other game because Kaeding is pretty good during the regular season...if this were a playoff game then I would be worried),ttyl

Damn dude!! That was a close game betwen y'all! YIKES! You made a hella comeback though my friend. Did you hear about Ryan Grant? SHIT! I gotta hit the waiver wire tomorrow and make some adjustments. I got lucky with some shit this week. (i.e. MoMa, Arizona DEF,) they won't do that every week. Dez may be better in the coming weeks, he got a fair amount of targets. And you know that DeAngelo will get going.
I'm not a fan of Moore either, but he did have a few good games at the end of last year didn't he? I know he roasted the Giant's nuts. I would rather have Moore than Delhomme(sp?)
Speaking of baseball, my Yankees got swept by the Rangers over the weekend. WTF?? They've lost like 5 in a row, I ain't feeling it this year. The Rays would be my pick to rep. the AL in the fall classic. (LOL, fall classic, sorry too much ESPN) Idk about the NL, not the Phillies, Colorado is on a streak. Or was. They were up to 10, yes?
So I'm about to watch this movie on Netflix, 'BLOOD FEAST 2 All You Can Eat' Have you seen it? The opening was funny as hell. Anyway, take it easy and I'll ttyl. Peace.

yeah it was and I would have won it to if the Chargers Coaching Staff had gotten their heads out their assess.....oh well gotta move on and get focused on this coming week, yeah I did hear about Grant that sucks man, yeah well this week I'm not going to start Dez and I'm going to wait until he starts becoming more of a regular target before I start him, yeah I know he will and I got a feeling that he will really take off this weekend because the Panthers are playing Tampa and he generally does well against them, I wouldn't say that he's better than Delhomme just yet.....if he can threw 30% few INT's than Delhomme and lead them to a Super Bowl appearance or two then I will agree that he is better than Delhomme....but as of right now I feel that he's a late season bloomer (in other words he's like Mr. October who was so so to good during the regular season but once the playoffs start something clicks and he goes from so so/good to great/ freak of nature) which doesn't help us out any because by the time he starts doing great the team has pretty much been eliminated from the playoffs.....LOL I know that feeling , yeah in the NL West Colorado was on a big win streak (winning I believe 8 of 10 )while the first place Padres went on a big losing streak (lost 10 straight games before winning 6 of their last 10 games)which allowed Colorado and San Francisco to get back into the playoff hunt making it a three team race instead of an easy playoff berth for the Padres (right now the Padres have a 1.5 game lead over SF and a 3.5 game lead over Colorado with almost three weeks left in the season)........ no I have not seen Blood Feast 2 but I'll check it out, I've been watching a lot of older horror films that have been added to Netflix Instant watch such as The House that Dripped Blood ( which I had written a review for as part of a double header review weekend but it got buried by the second film I reviewed which was Innocent Blood), Vampire Circus (oh before I forget both Countess Dracula and The Vampire Lovers have been added to Instant watch...and you might also want to check out Vampire Circus as well)......and speaking of classics have you checked out the 2005 remake of The Cabinet of Dr. Calagri which is also on instant watch? take it easy man, later.

Netflix has added a bunch of new shit. I saw like all the Friday the 13th's (or most of them) were on there. So that's kinda cool. I do remember us talking about the Vampire Lovers and Countess Dracula (Hammer films, right?) Never heard of 'The Cabinet of Dr. Calagri' though, what's that about? I did watch a trippy movie last night though, ever hear of "Dead Ringers?" Not really a horror film and not really what I was expecting, but it kept my interest and wound up being not a bad movie. I think it may be on Netflix, but I got it off my DVR. It was on one of my Encore's last week and I grabbed it.
Good point about Moore. Totally unproven but I think there may be some potential. You got Tampa this week, should win that one. We play the Colts (brother vs. brother) IDK, the Colts lost last week so they'll be all kinds of fired up. Peyton won the last meeting like 3 years ago so maybe Eli gets even. I think I'll still play him in fantasy though, the Giants can't seem to run the ball so more passes, more yards. Hopefully no INTS.
ANd oh yeah, the Yankees lost again last night. They're now 1/2 a game back of the Rays. Shit. Did you see Jeter fake getting hit by that pitch? LOL! He even admitted it after the game. Too funny! But in baseball, if you ain't cheating, you're not trying hard enough to win. Ok man, take it easy, I gotta fool about with my fantasy team. Talk later.

yeah and they plan to add more horror movies according to Dread Central over the next couple of weeks, yes both are Hammer Films, The Cabinet of Dr. Calagri is a 1920 German silent film about a young man's encounter with Dr. Calagri and his murderous human zombie Caesar at a traveling circus, the film is the inspiration behind Rob Zombie's song and music video Living Dead Girl and has been adapted/remade/homaged multiple times with the latest remake coming in 2005, which stars Doug Jones as Caesar(Jones is best known for his role as Abe Sapien in the live action Hellboy movies), was shot entirely on a sound stage using green screen ala Sin City and Sky Captain, it is a black and white movie and has sound/dialogue which the original didn't have, and actually incorporated cleaned up scans of the background sets (which in the original were mostly painted) from the 1920 original....both the 1920 original and 2005 remake are on Netflix Instant watch....I have heard about Dead Ringers but haven't seen it.......yeah I have a feeling that we will manage to beat Tampa Bay this weekend, I know......the Manning Bowl II and I think that this is a must win for Peyton and Indy, but I hope they lose it ....badly and go down 0-2, yeah Peyton did win the first meeting which means it's time for Eli's revenge.....I did see the Jeter fake out, and I do consider it a form a cheating, but not the worst kind which is what A-Rod, Pettite, Giambi, McGuire, Clemens, Bonds, Conseco did (Steroids) and I gotta say Jeter did a better job selling it to the umpire than A-Rod did when he slapped the ball out of Arroyo's hand in the 2004 ALCS and tried to claim to the ump that he didn't slap Arroyo's hand and that the ball came out of Arroyo's glove and that he should be safe at first after he was called out.....but hey it still ended the same way .....a loss which is also what happened to those college teams (Marshall and Notre Dame I believe) last weekend who had an idiot receiver drop the football right outside the end zone as part of their premature TD celebration and still managed to get credited with a TD..........Also I think it's sad when a player/team has to resort to any form of cheating in order to win a game and if I were you I would be hopping mad right now (and yes if a Red Sox player cheated I would be mad as hell at that player and even madder at the organization if they failed to take steps to punish the player for what they did ) because Jeter was the one who cheated and I say that because Jeter is generally is well regarded as a great player and one of the All Time great Yankees and for him to resort to a cheap ploy to win a game....a ploy that you would generally expect from a scumbag like A-Rod or Jason Giambi, all because he's starting to slow down and show his age tarnishes his legacy( though not as badly as what the steroid crew but I will say that if he (Jeter) pulls a Clemens or A-Rod/Giambi/Pettite and goes the steroid route I will burn all my Derek Jeter Rookie/Draft Pick Cards because they will be worth shit....and yes I actually have a few of them...in great condition...despite being a die hard Red Sox fan and wishing that he didn't play for the Yankees).....speaking of the whole steroid thing I believe that all records that were made/broken by players who tested positive or admitted to knowingly using steroids during their record setting run should be erased (I'm looking at you Clemens, McGuire, Sosa, and Bonds), any World Series championships they helped their teams win the years in which it was claimed they were using/tested positive for using steroids be vacated/ turned over to the team that they beat in the World Series, and that the player be banned for life from entering Cooperstown regardless of their pre and post steroid records/stats.......moving on....yeah you too man......I also got to mess around with my fantasy team because I just found out through ESPN that Todd Heap might not play Sunday due to a shoulder injury.......

Well sir, yesterday was not a good day in the world of football. Looks like we're both in the same boat. The Giants/Panthers both looked like complete shit. Did you see the game last night? WTF? And I too took a pretty good beating in the world of fantasy. (I got killed in both leagues.) And what's the deal with D. Williams? (I have him in my other league) When will he get it going? And to top it off, I think it was Saturday, but the Yankees lost to shitty Baltimore in the 11th. It was a total weekend of losing. The only bright spot was that the Cowgirls got beat by Da' Bears. But other than that, not a good weekend at all. Well, as far as sports go anyway. And oh yeah, My Irish got beat in OT. Damn, none of my teams won. Notre Dame has been not so good for a while now. I'm getting used to it. Who's your college team?
I agree, I hate the steroid era. Hate it. It has pretty much ruined the game of baseball. I know it goes on in all sports, even in the NFL, it's just not as in the open. I mean maybe because baseball is a huge stat game, (stats seem to matter more there) and football is more of a just win championships game. But I feel it goes on in all sports. And don't get me started on Clemens and Bonds. Especially Clemens. As a Yankee fan that was hard to take the whole steroid thing. At least Pettite and A-Rod admitted it, I know it tarnished their rep, but I give them props for honesty. (Again, I'm NY bias)
As far as cheating, remember the Pats and that whole spygate thing? That was kinda funny but it sucks to think that BB would resort to that. In my opinion he's the best coach in the league right now.
Back to Jeter for a sec, he is one of the greatest Yankees of all time, and I am a tad biased here, but ultimately his job is to get on base. And yeah, he is showing his age some, but I do kinda think it was a savy move by a veteran player. I just looked at the TV and saw that the Yanks lost yesterday again. DAMN!! .5 a game lead only.
So, back to the drawing board for this week. You still have Reggie playing tonight, right? Get some pride points. My RB's (except Forte) are not so good. Neither are my WR's. I did get a good game outta Williams though. Sorry it was at the expense of your Panthers. That might have been a good pick up. Anyway, I'll make some tweaks this week and see what I can do. Ok, take care and i'll be talking to ya.

yeah but at least they listened to me and booted Moore (they just announced that Clausen will be starting at QB next week against the Bengals), I saw the first half of the game and part of the third quarter, yeah I'm getting killed on the fantasy football (On the fantasy baseball side I came back from behind on the last day to eek out a playoff game victory and advanced to my league's championship game where my opponent will be the New York Yankees.....and yes that really is the name of my opponents team)and I don't think Reggie Bush will get me even close unless he has a better game than Arian Foster did against the Colts in week 1. I'm wondering the same thing I was sure he was going to bust out against the Bucs, but at least he did do a little bit better than he did last week (last week he got me 6.2 points and this week he got me 7.4). As for my sports weekend the only bright spots were my college football team winning this weekend's game...just barely (My college football team is Michigan by the way and I get a lot a shit about it from my older sis who is an App State fan/alumni) and the Sox avoided a sweep by Toronto other than that the weekend sucked.........Pettite yes he did, A-Rod didn't he just said he did something regretful and apologized...he never stated what he did that needed apologizing but it was implied that it was because he did steriods......also both waited until they were outed in the press before they did anything about it........Yeah I remember Spygate, it is a sad affair....even sadder for Mangini and the people out there who were calling for the Pats Championships to be vacated and awarded to the teams they beat, that all the games they won be converted to losses, claimed that the Pats were the only team in NFL history to get caught doing this and that the NFL had been covering up the whole incident by destroying footage. All the while they ignored the fact that several other teams had prior to Spygate been caught doing the same exact thing (in fact the Jets were caught in 2006 video taping a game against the Patriots as well as taping a Pats game at Gillette Stadium in which the Jets were not the opponent) claiming to have a loose interpretation of the NFL's rules about video tapping opponents during games, and ended in a similar fashion with the NFL fining the team (though not as severely as the Pats because the Pats had continued the practice after being warned by the NFL prior to spygate when those seven teams had been caught) as well as destroying those tapes....also these people forget about the source of the scandal....the person who told the NFL about the Pats continued use of video taping during games.....that person was former Belicheck Protege / former Pat's Assistant Head Coach/ Jet's Head Coach Eric Mangini who went to the NFL after going 1 for 4 against his former team and had also engaged in a similar practice in which he had Jets personnel video tape the Pats home game the week prior to the AFC Wild Card Game as well as during the AFC Wild Card Game in which the Pats beat the Jets...in the end I think everyone got what they deserved (the Pats and Belicheck were fined, lost a first round pick, and lost the Super Bowl that year after having a perfect regular season and almost a year later in December of 08 Eric Mangini was fired by the Jets and was during the offseason hired by the Cleveland Browns who had fired former Pats Defensive Coordinator Romero Crennel ....so far he has a 5-13 record and could lose his job at the end of the season if the Browns do not have a winning season/record above .500)...Yeah I guess so...yeah I am playing Reggie tonight and if he doesn't do any better this week then I'm benching his ass......trust me that ain't bad my little sis came over to visit as well as watch the Panthers/Bucs game and she is a big Bucs fan so I had to hear a lot of shit talk though it died down slightly after I told her that I had three Panthers on my fantasy football team.......she ended up rooting for the Bucs and two of the three panthers I had on my fantasy team (she drew the line at the Panther's Defense)......later man

I guess Clausen can't be any worse than Moore. Maybe it will be a much needed spark. It ain't gonna be easy, y'all got CIN this week. They got a tough DEF. In fact, I just added them to my fantasy team, I play Danny this week and I need all the points I can get. I made a few tweaks but I don't know, fingers crossed. I did bench D. Williams in my other league, not wild about him going up against CIN. I put in Moreno instead. I also picked up McNabb for our league, he goes against the Rams so I may get more pts out of him than Eli. Fingers crossed.
I'm not a huge Mangini fan, I think he was over hyped due to that whole Belichick coaching tree thing. He really hasn't done fuck all with the Browns. But then again, the Browns have pretty much been a non factor for a while now. Holmgren may do some good for them but you can't polish a turd. (Remember that dude in Christine said that. The garage owner)
Big game in the state of Tx this week. Dallas @ Houston. Go TEXANS! Should be a good game. I rarely watch the Cowboys, thank god for the Red Zone. But I will be dialed in to this one. And I'm kinda geeked about the Jets/Dolphins matchup as well.
Michigan...EWWW! No offense. I just get tired of watching y'all beat the shit outta Notre Dame. My poor Irish. Y'all have a beast for QB though. Denard Robinson is a bad mo'fo. Could win the Heisman this year. He kinda reminds me of Vick when he was in college. I hate Michigan, but I'll give y'all some props. Rich Rod is doing ok, I though he was gonna get the boot for a while there.
ANyway, good luck in fantasy this weekend, kick some ass. By the way, when do we play each other? ANd good luck with fantasy baseball, since you're not playing MY Yankees, I can extend the good wishes.
